LIFE AFTER A LOVED ONE'S SUICIDE

"No matter how beautifully your life is arranged, no matter how lovingly you tend to it, it will not stay that way forever."  Kathryn Schulz

There was a time when our lives were beautifully lived, embraced with tender and caring love,  full of simple joy and happiness. Our future bright with shared affection, promises and dreams.

A normal day begins with its daily routine, then in an instant - it ends tragically. A sudden suicide, a devastating death and all was lost, all was gone - our lives forever changed, never the same again.

Life after a loved one's suicide is heartbreaking, horrendous, horrifyingly hard. Nothing in our lives has prepared us for the shocking sadness and sorrow that overwhelmed us - lost within ourselves, consumed with profound feelings of hopelessness and helplessness.

Although we are dearly embraced by our family and friends, we feel alone and abandoned as we mostly suffer in silence - at night we cry, not until we fall asleep but until the sun rises and we must once again slowly struggle through another day.

But as time passes, our wounds may not heal but they won't be as painful as they once were - gradually our life improves, forever mindful of the love we lost.

The death of our loved one may have destroyed the life we had, broken our hearts and shattered our souls - but it did not defeat us.

We are strong! We are resilient! We are courageous! We will survive - for that is our desired destiny.

    1. Did you speak to anyone about your thoughts? I'm here if you want to talk to me...and if you don't feel like, please call 116123. I know you might feel in a very dark place right now, but there are people out there who want to help. Give them a chance before you make a decision.

  2. I agree, we become courageous! We learn to express our pain by helping others. With an understanding that grief is a life-time healing process.
